How buying works
Browse, chat, meet, pay in person.
Lokona is a local marketplace. All transactions happen directly between buyers and sellers, cash or mobile money, in person. Lokona provides the platform, the messaging, and the trust layer, not the payment infrastructure.
The buying process
Five steps from browse to done.
Browse & find
Browse listings by category, location, and condition. Each listing shows the seller's verified status, completed transaction count, and rating, so you know who you're dealing with before you reach out.
Chat with the seller
Use Lokona's built-in messaging to ask questions, negotiate, and agree on a meetup. All communication stays on-platform so there's a clear record.
Meet in person & inspect
Agree on a convenient nearby location. When you meet, inspect the item before you pay. Never pay before you've seen and tested the item yourself.
Pay directly
Payment is between you and the seller, cash, mobile money, bank transfer, or whatever you both agree on. Lokona does not process or hold payments.
Confirm & review
After the transaction, the seller records the sale on Lokona and you confirm it. Once confirmed, both of you can leave a review. Reviews become public after 7 days or when both parties submit, preventing retaliatory ratings.

Lokona does not process, hold, or guarantee any payments. All transactions are directly between buyers and sellers. Use your own judgment, inspect items in person before paying, meet in public places, and only complete a transaction when you're satisfied.
